Jennifer LeavittJennifer’s love for dance started at an early age as she split her time between competitive diving and swimming and youth jazz and tap classes with a little bit of ballet and a short stint on pointe.
After a year of being a student athlete swimming and diving at Central Washington University, Jennifer pivoted from the pool to the dance studio and joined Orchesis, the university dance company, as a dancer and choreographer. After college Jennifer continued to hone her dance skills with classes at Spectrum Dance Theater in Seattle and Strong Wind Wild Horses. In addition, Jennifer showed independent choreography works at On the Boards and Strong Winds Wild Horses in Seattle. While continuing to build her skill base in jazz and tap, Jennifer performed in community musical theater productions of West Side Story (Shark) at the Carco Theater in Renton, multiple rolls in Working in Auburn and Gilbert and Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore at the Meydenbauer Theater in Bellevue. Fast forward to today, Jennifer took a 20 year hiatus as a working mom and a fast-paced marketing career until a skiing injury brought her back home to the dance studio when she found KDC. The amazing culture and supportive teachers of KDC have reignited Jennifer’s love for both dance and creative expression through choreography. Jennifer co-teaches both traditional and contemporary jazz and continues to take classes in addition to teaching. |
