Announcements
It is with heavy hearts that we share some difficult news. After 23 years of serving our community, Kirkland Dance Center will be closing its doors as of December 31, 2025.
This decision has not come easily, and we know that it will impact so many people. As you all know, we are a nonprofit organization committed to keeping dance accessible to and affordable for everyone.
Unfortunately, our landlord has significantly increased the rent for our space; raising it to a level that is simply unsustainable for our organization. Not only was their proposed rate a 30% increase, but it was well above the current market rate, which is unreasonable given the perpetually neglected state of the building. The landlords have done very little maintenance over the years and, even though we were told that the roof had been replaced, we discovered that it hadn’t, which is why it still leaks regularly.
As a nonprofit organization, we must remain thoughtful stewards of our resources to fulfill
our mission and serve our community. We believe the rate we proposed was both reasonable and fair, particularly given our history as long-term, reliable tenants who have consistently cared for the property and met--even exceeded--all obligations. However, despite exploring every possible option, we are unable to continue operating under these new terms.
We did spend a significant amount of time exploring other properties in the area but were unsuccessful in finding a suitable location and property, not to mention the cost associated with building a new dance studio.
We are incredibly proud of everything we’ve built together over the years. From our first class to the multiple performances, none of it would have been possible without your energy, passion, and support. You have helped us create more than just a dance studio—you helped us build a community.
Our final day of classes will be December 13.
We know this isn’t goodbye forever. The spirit of KDC lives on in every dancer we've taught, every child we've inspired, and every life we've touched. Thank you for being part of our journey.
